Tarawera 100mile Qualifier
Blue Lake Miler Qualifier
Want to use Blue Lake 24hr as part of your pathway toward the Tarawera TMiler?
For 2026 we are introducing a dedicated Blue Lake 60K Qualifier.
The qualifier is simple:
1. Enter the Blue Lake Qualifier
Runners intending to complete the qualifier must register for the Miler Qualifier category before the event.
You will be allocated a separate qualifier lap board for the duration of the event.
2. Complete 10 Full Laps
The Blue Lake loop is approximately 6 km.
To complete the qualifier you must finish:
10 full laps = approximately 60 km
Each completed lap must be recorded on your official qualifier lap board.
Your lap board will be the primary event record used to confirm completion of the qualifier.
3. Record Your Activity
You must record your 60K effort using a GPS watch or device and upload the activity to Strava. (clean no stops starts, one continous file)
Your Strava activity must be set to Public so the Blue Lake team can view it for verification.
GPS distance may vary slightly between devices, so qualification is based primarily on the completion of 10 officially recorded laps, rather than the exact distance displayed by your watch.
4. Submit Your Result
Within 7 days of the event, you must complete the Blue Lake 60K Qualifier submission form.
You will be asked to provide:
Full name
Age
Location
Email address
Mobile number
Qualifier or lap board number
Public Strava activity link
Confirmation that you completed 10 full laps
Submissions received outside the 7-day period may not be processed.
5. Verification
Blue Lake organisers will verify your submission against:
Your official qualifier lap board
Event records
Your public Strava activity
Once verified, you will be recorded as an official Blue Lake 60K Finisher.
You are welcome to continue running after completing your 10th lap. Completing the qualifier does not require you to stop participating in the Blue Lake 24hr Challenge.
Important Tarawera Disclaimer
The Blue Lake Qualifier is intended to provide runners with an official 50 km+ trail race result that may be submitted as part of the qualification process for the Tarawera Ultra-Trail TMiler.
However, completion of the Blue Lake Qualifier does not guarantee acceptance into the Tarawera TMiler.
Acceptance of any qualifying result is solely at the discretion of Tarawera Ultra-Trail / UTMB event staff.
Blue Lake 24hr, its organisers, volunteers and associated parties accept no responsibility or liability if a Blue Lake 60K result is declined, rejected or otherwise not accepted for entry into the Tarawera TMiler.
Runners are responsible for checking the current Tarawera entry and qualification requirements before entering.
In Short
Enter the qualifier → complete 10 laps → record it on your qualifier board → upload your activity publicly to Strava → submit the form within 7 days → we verify and publish your result.
Simple.
